SpeedTouch USB-HOWTO mit den Benoit......

<HTML>Also ich bin jetzt totaler Linux Neuling, besitze Linux 8.1 Professional und das Speed Touch USB Modem mit dem Provider UTA! Bis jetzt habe ich mal 2 Tage gelesen und Anleitungen durchforstet/ausgedruckt! Hier im >Forum Linux habe ich nur verwirrende Beiträge von Schroder gelesen!??

Also ich bin jetzt noch nicht weit gekommen außer das ich das ADSL-Paket für linux von www.fl.priv.at/deutsch/adsl geholt habe, und mit Yast installiert!

Beim installieren des Benoit-Papillaut's Open-Source Treiber hänge ich jetzt, nach dem entpacken des Treibers kommt beim kompilieren dieser Fehler:

1. Du besitzt nicht Linux 8.1 Prof. sondern vermutlich SuSE Linux 8.1 Prof.

2. Schrober-Beiträge einfach ignorieren

3. Welches ADSL-Paket auf www.fl.priv.at? Da gibts nur welche für das Ethernet-Modem... oder habe ich was übersehen?

4. Ich kann es mir zwar nicht vorstellen, daß du wirklich keinen C-Compiler installiert hast, aber gib in der Shell einmal folgenden Befehl ein:

ls -l /usr/bin/gcc

Wenn er die Datei nicht findet, mußt du die C-Compiler-Packages nachinstallieren. (mit Yast?)

1. Stimmt SUSE Linux 8.1 Prof.
2. OK mach ich ;-)
3. Das kommt davon wenn man sich nicht auskennt, muß ich das jetzt deinstallieren?
4. Schau ich mir gleich an, kann sein das es nicht dabei ist ich habe Standardinstallation gewählt

Allein die Adressen die er liefert, können gar nicht stimmen (192.168.xxx.xxx sind Adressen für Private Networks).

Leider kann ich mit dem Log nicht viel anfangen, es wäre sinnvoller, wenn du nach einem mißglückten Einwahlversuch den Inhalt von "/var/log/messages" posten würdest (aber nicht alles; das wäre ein bißchen viel). Die letzten 50 Zeilen dieser Datei bekommst du mit:

tail -n 50 /var/log/messages

Unabhängig davon, solltest du überprüfen, ob deine Kernel-Version 2.4.18 oder höher ist, denn sonst solltest du unbedingt den Kernel patchen (und neu kompilieren), oder noch besser: gleich die neueste Version installieren.

Nein, mußt du nicht.

Zum Logfile:

1. Du hast da ein bißchen viel geschickt. Ich bin mir nicht einmal sicher, ob der interessante Teil dabei ist. (Mit dem tail-Befehl aus dem vorherigen Posting wären die 50 aktuellsten Zeilen ausgegeben worden. Wenn die Uhrzeit stimmt, habe ich jetzt die Daten von gestern abend.)

2. Aus irgendeinem Grund versucht er das pppoe-Plugin zu laden. Das braucht er aber ganz sicher nicht. Du solltest unbedingt kontrollieren, ob die Dateien /etc/ppp/options und /etc/ppp/peer/adsl mit dem HowTo übereinstimmen. Sie sollten nicht mehr und nicht weniger enthalten (die Zeilen, die mit einem # beginnen, sind Kommentare und können weggelassen werden).

3. Dein eigentliches Problem dürfte aber sein, daß du nie die Firmware in das Modem lädst (zumindest steht davon nichts im Logfile).

Starte den Rechner einmal neu (damit du einen definierten Anfangszustand hast). Dann gib in der Shell folgende Kommandos ein (wie es im HowTo gefordert wird):

modprobe ppp_generic
modprobe ppp_synctty
modprobe n_hdlc
modem_run -m -f /pfad/zum/microcode/mgmt.o
pppd call adsl

Sollte irgendein Befehl eine Fehlermeldung ausgeben, dann schick sie.

Mit folgendem Befehl kannst du überprüfen, ob die Verbindung besteht:

ifconfig ppp0

Sollte sie immer noch nicht bestehen, dann gib den tail-Befehl aus dem vorherigen Posting ein und schick wirklich nur diese 50 Zeilen!

Es sieht so aus, als wolle er direkt beim Start deines Systems eine Verbindung aufbauen (vermutlich die fehlerhafte PPPoE-Verbindung). Die sehen dann wir jedes mal mit "ifconfig ppp0".

Deinstalliere einmal das ADSL-Paket, das du von www.fl.priv.at/deutsch/adsl heruntergeladen hast. Du brauchst es sowieso nicht.

Außerdem solltest du mit Yast kontrollieren, ob du nicht irgendwo eine ADSL-Verbindung eingestellt hast.
Das SuSE-System kann (meines Wissens) in Österreich keine ADSL-Verbindung herstellen (deswegen mußt du dir ja die ganze Arbeit machen), hat(te) aber die unangenehme Eigenschaft, von selbst in den Konfigurationsdateien herumzuändern, wenn es meint, für etwas zuständig zu sein... :-P

Anschließend solltest du nocheinmal die im Benoit-HowTo beschriebenen Konfigurationsdateien überprüfen (ja, ja, ich weiß, es wird langweilig ;-)

Wenn alles korrekt ist, startest du neu und gibst du wieder die Befehlsfolge vom letzten Posting ein. Nach dem "pppd call adsl" solltest du 5-10 Sekunden warten, bevor du den Befehl "ifconfig" eingibst (diesmal ohne ppp0; damit siehst du alle Interfaces; für den Fall, daß er immer noch ppp0 mit einer nicht existenten PPPoE-Verbindung blockiert).

Dann holst du wieder mit "tail -n 50 /var/log/messages" den Logfile-Auszug. (Der letzte Auszug war schon ganz gut, aber du hast ihn zu früh gemacht; das System hatte die Verbindung noch gar nicht so weit, daß er einen Fehler oder einen Erfolg hätte feststellen können ;-)

Schick auch noch den Output von folgendem Befehl:
lsmod

Also genauso wie Du gesagt hast bin ich vorgegangen! :-)
Frage: ich mach das alles in der Konsole, wenn ich jetzt eine neue Konsole als root mache dann findet er den Microcode nicht mache ich es in der "normalen" findet er es spielend und auch rührt sich was im Modem, zur Bemerkung: Ich bin natürlich als root eingeloggt!
Soll ich das immer in der "normalen machen" ??
Und das alles an Silvester ;-)

Allerdings gibt es da noch ein Problem:

Er hat nach wie vor eine nicht funktionierende PPPoE-Verbindung über ppp0. Deine tatsächliche Verbindung ist aber über ppp1.

Das ist zwar nicht schön, aber kein grundsätzliches Problem, WENN er nicht die default route ebenfalls auf ppp0 setzen würde => Alle Datenpakete werden ins Nirvana geschickt anstatt ins Internet ;-)

Als Notlösung übers neue Jahr helfen diese beiden Zeilen:
route del default gw 192.168.99.99
route add default gw 212.152.234.1

Aber wie gesagt: Das sollte kein Dauerzustand werden... du mußt unbedingt herausfinden, wo und wie er die PPPoE-Verbindung aufbaut (und das dann unterbinden)!

Machen wir nach den Feiertagen weiter oder wie, das wir (du und ich?) das in den Griff bekommen!
Würde mich gerne erkenntlich zeigen, wennst mal Ersatzteile für's Handy oder so brauchst oder was weiß ich Probleme damit hast oder Umbau oder sei es sonst irgendwas was Dir am Herzen kiegt melde Dich per mail bei mir [email protected] !

An mir soll es nicht scheitern, aber ich muß dich warnen: Mit den neuen SuSE-Distributionen kenn ich mich nicht sonderlich gut aus. Seit meinem letzten SuSE-System hat sich einiges an den Konfigurationsdateien geändert. Es wird eine ziemliche Herumprobiererei werden...

Wenn du also wirklich mit meiner Hilfe weitermachen willst, dann machen wir das am besten direkt per Email und nicht mehr in diesem Thread, sonst müllen wir das ganze Forum zu... (Meine Email-Adresse findest du im ersten Beitrag)

Danke, aber:

1. Machen das alle Forums-Teilnehmer aus Spaß an der Sache und ich denke, das sollte so bleiben.
Du kannst dich dadurch revanchieren, indem du (sobald dein System einwandfrei läuft und du dich einigermaßen auskennst) dem nächsten Neueinsteiger mit seinem System hilfst. Diesem Forum würden ein paar Leute, die genau wissen, wie man möglichst einfach eine USB-Flunder unter den neueren SuSE-Distributionen zum Laufen bringt, ganz gut tun :-)

2. Ich bin der totale Handy-Muffel! (Habe nur ein Uralt-Wertkarten-Handy, das mein Bruder vor Jahren wegwerfen wollte und auch das ist so gut wie nie eingeschaltet :-)

Ich bin auch Admin in einem Handyforum und natürlich machen wir das alle für lau, und wegen dem Spaß an der Sache, aber jetzt stell dir vor es gebe den Gerhard hier nicht dann wäre ich aufgeschmissen! (natürlich seit Ihr anderen Freaks auch vom Fach) , aber der Gerhard hat sich um mich gekümmert und das ist toll von Ihm--> RESPEKT!
Ja mich wunderts das sonst keiner hier anfragt wegen der Flunder, vermutlich weil keiner von den Pfeifen mit Linux arbeiten will! ;-))
Weil als der Techniker hier war der hatte glaube ich 100 Stück in seinem Auto mit, also SI pakete dürften doch sehr verbreitet sein!
Öfter hören werdet Ihr natürlich von mir, Fragen über Fragen, und weiterhelfen soferne ich dazu in der Lage bin werde ich selbst verständlich mein möglichstes tun, eine andere Antwort von Deiner Seite habe ich auch nicht erwartet, ein Mensch mit Charakter---> dickes Lob an GERHARD!!!!!!

Ab SuSE 8.0 geht das Erstellen einer ADSL-Verbindung über das SpeedTouch USB - Modem ganz einfach:

Dazu brauchst nur das Paket "smpppd" installieren. Danach rufst Du YaST auf und wählst den Punkt System->DSL-Verbindung.

Hier gibst Du Deine Teilnehmerkennung, Passwort, VPI/VCI Nummer ein, machst aktivierst DialOnDemand und fertig !

Du mußt lediglich kontrollieren, ob smpppd beim Booten gestartet wird. Kannst mit dem Runlevel-Editor machen.

Und Du kannst eine Default-Route in /etc/sysconfig/network/routes eingeben.
